The Schönes Wochenend Ticket is a weekend pass valid for unlimited second class travel on all IRE, RE, RB, SE and S-Bahn local trains throughout Germany from 00.00 Saturday or Sunday to 03:00 the following day for up to five people travelling together, or parents or grandparents travelling with any number of children under 15 years of age. Also valid to the first station in the Czech Republic, and to Szczecin, Kostrzyn, Zgorzelec and border stations with Poland.

The size of the group is noted at the first inspection and cannot be changed. Also valid on "private" railways and on many public transport networks most notably in Frankfurt am Main.

The Quer-durchs-Land Ticket is a Monday to Friday version, with similar conditions, except that it is valid for one day from 9am and the first person pays full price and upto four people can travel in addition at a much reduced price.

Ländertickets

German Länder (states or regions) each have day rail passes with similar conditions. These Tageskarte are valid on all regional trains (IRE, RE, RB, S-Bahn, including non-DB operators) in second class on Mondays to Fridays from 09:00 to 03:00 next day and all day from midnight to midnight Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Tickets are not valid on long-distance services such as ICE, InterConnex or on tourist railways such as HSB, Zugspitzbahn, Oberweissbacher Bergbahn and other East German narrow gauge steam lines.

Most Länder have a single person ticket and some form of group ticket valid for up to five people travelling together, or two parents or grandparents travelling with unlimited children or grandchildren under 15 years of age. Some Länder also have a night ticket (Nacht Ticket) valid for up to five people travelling together from 6pm to 6am the following morning.

Baden-Württemberg-Ticket

Covers a large area of south-west Germany based on Karlsruhe, Freiburg, Stuttgart and Ulm, including to Basel SBB and Lindau. A map of the area covered is available here. Second class tickets are for one person with upto four additional person travelling at a reduced rate. First class tickets are available for one person only.

Covers a large area of south-east Germany. As well as regional trains the Bayern ticket is also valid on public transport in Munich (MVV) and Nuremberg (VGN). Valid to Salzburg, Kufstein, Kempten-Reutte in Tirol, Garmish Partenkirchen and Ulm. A map of the area covered is available here. Second class tickets are for one person with upto four additional person travelling at a reduced rate. First class tickets are available for one person only.

Bayern-Böhem Ticket

1 passenger £26, each extra person £4.50

Covers a wide area circling and including Berlin incuding towns outside Brandenburg including Neubrandenburg, Dessau, Lutherstadt-Wittenberg, Szczecin and Kostryzyn. Valid on IC and EC trains from Berlin to Prenzlau, Cottbus, Forst and Szczecin. Valid on trams in Szczecin. A map of the area covered is available here. All Brandenburg-Berlin Tickets are valid for 1-5 passengers.
